Kona Kai Homeowners Association
Newsletter – November 2004
Annual Meeting Our annual meeting was held on June 19th at the Port Bolivar Fire Department. An evening meeting was decoded on and the attendance was better than the year before. ● The BB-Q and all the trimmings were fantastic. A big thank you to Joe Ramey. He supervised all the buying, preparing, cooking and serving, every slice, every sausage, every bean, every potato. From the comments heard around the hall everybody enjoyed the meal. ● Our Raffle was a great success, clearing almost $400.00. Thanks to everyone that bought a ticket. The portable TV was won by Maurice and Annick LeDoux. The picnic basket and arrangement was won by the Jenkins family. The tacklelogic box was won by Gary Gallion. John Chesser won the sago palm. ● On the business side, Deed Restrictions did not pass as there were not enough voting to represent the necessary majority. Several suggestions were submitted to the association and will be considered for next year. ● And last but not least, Butch Leger and his band played til? Surprisingly, a lot of twinkle toed Kona Kai’s danced their boots off. If you missed this one, we’re sorry, but try again next year. We try to make it better each year. Remember, it’s all free for owners and their family. ● Many thanks to all the volunteers who manned greeting table, sign in, raffle, fishing tournament, setup and cleanup.
Fishing Tournament It's in the record book. The 2004 Kona Kai Fishing Tournament was held Saturday, July 24th. as scheduled. Residents and owners showed up Friday night at Colet's Bait Camp to check-in. Hats, tee shirts, poker chips and stringers were given out. The Fishing Tournament Committee members were there to meet and greet and to answer any questions. They were well prepared and registered all without a hitch. There was a sponsor board for all to see who and how many gave so generously to our tournament. The committee deserves a lot of thanks for the effort in signing up those sponsor/donors. The board of directors thanks you for your hard and productive work.
At
There's no other way to say it, it was just a hard day out there Saturday. Fishing was slow. The water was still quite fresh from recent rains. But the sky was clear blue and no chance of rain. Wind was calm and water was actually pretty good. It was pretty obvious that a good time was had by all.

Rules & Regulations Enclosed,
the following were adopted at the 2004 Annual Homeowner’s meeting.
Dinner Night Out The association's board of directors thought it would be nice to provide a social opportunity for Kona Kai homeowners to get together and become better acquainted something in addition to the annual meeting. It was decided that we would pick a restaurant, date and time and announce it to all residents via the website. Attendance is voluntary and at the expense of each participant. No formal association business is conducted, just a social dinner with friends. For those that have not checked the website, we had our first get together dinner August 17th at La Playita Mexican restaurant. Fourteen full time residents attended. All in attendance voted to do it again in October. The second dinner was held at Steve’s Landing on October 14th. Seventeen attended.
If you’re able, please plan to attend our next dinner:
December 16th at 6:30
in the evening at De Coux’s Restaurant
2nd Annual Christmas Lighting Contest It’s that time again! Last year we had our first annual lighting contest. Butch and Kathy Leger won a Santa Clause trophy. We are asking all that did participate last year to do so again and we are encouraging those that did not to participate this year. ● The judging will be held over the 17th and 18th of December with the award presentation being made December 18th at Tommy and Gayle Johnston’s house, 1314 Boyt Rd. at 6:30 P.M. There will be a small ceremony to celebrate the season and the winner, B.Y.O.B.
