  • It’s not too late to volunteer!  The annual meeting and fish fry is coordinated this year by Shirley Washam.  To offer your help give her a call (409) 684-6340.  The fishing Tournament this year is going to need more help than in years past.  Please contact Jim Kuykendall (409) 684-1260 or E-Mail kuykendallj@juno.com
  • Transfer Procedure & Fee:  Article V, Section 14 spells out the process for transferring membership in the Homeowner’s Association.  There is a fee (paid by purchaser) and a form that the homeowner must submit to the board secretary (W.C. Brister) 20 days prior to the sale.
  • Three positions on  the board need to be filled as required by the community by-laws.  President, Vice-president and Secretary.  New owners, what a good chance to get involved in your new community.  Veteran owners, get re-acquainted and bring historical perspective to the table.  The board works best when there is active involvement.
  • If your membership dues are currently outstanding, please bring them current.
  • Pictures needed! If you have old pictures that show how Kona Kai was in the early days please share them and make them available for the archives.  That’s right, archives.  Given the advent of computers and CD-RW’s, it only makes sense to scan and preserve what we can.  Just put the photos in an envelop and mail it to the HOA P.O. Box.  We promise to scan and return all photos and or documents to you promptly.
  • Fishing Tournament date set for July 26th, 2003
  • Topics for Board of Directors Meeting
    • Homeowner’s dues have not changed since their foundation in 1965.  Future newsletters will make the case.  Your thoughts please.
    • Deed Restrictions specify that lots are for “residential “ purposes only.  Many people have voiced concern that “rental” use of the property violates the deed restrictions and as such should be stopped immediately.  Expect a decision at the next meeting.  Until then, be advised that this restriction is in place and enforceable.
    • Finalize the plans for Fish Tournament.
    • Finalize the plans for annual meeting and Fish Fry.
    • Prepare and mail out ballots for the election of new officers.
    • Board meetings are scheduled for the first Saturday of even numbered months.  Due to the extra items on the agenda, there will be an extra meeting on Saturday May 3rd 2:00 P.M. at Ken McGowan’s home.  This, as all Board Meetings, are open to all, and you are encouraged to attend.
    • Update on Lien’s filed against delinquent owner’s.  Discussion of future procedures.
    • Web page development plan and progress to date.  All ideas and opinions are welcome.
